Okowa commend DESOPADEC for setting up IDP camps

The Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, today embarked upon assessment tour of IDP camps across the state, with a visit to the IDP Camp in Oleh under the administration of DESOPADEC.

The governor commended the management of DESOPADEC for responding swiftly by providing accommodation for people displaced by the ravaging flood across the state and commended the people for their resilience despite the challenges they are passing through and encouraged them to continue to live together as one family and remain thankful to God.

He commended the camp administrator for ensuring smooth functioning of the camp in order to give the people temporary comfort as result of the flooding challenge that displaced them from their homes.

The governor further thanked the women for their corporation with the camp administration in providing cooking services for themselves which has made it easier for the government.

He thanked the medical team at the camp for providing healthcare services for the people and assured the people of government support when water recedes and as they eventually return to their various homes and offered prayers for the residents in the camp.

The governor was conducted round the camp by the camp administrator, Chief Prosper Edo and informed the governor that as the time of his visit a total number of 1,290 persons were already registered in the camp comprising of 726 females and 564 males.

The managing director of DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, Commissioner for Environment Chief Godspower Asiuwhu and other members of the flood management committee were on ground to receive the governor.
